The Position:
Reporting to the Director of Community Living, the Group Home Operations Manager work together to ensure the safe, effective and efficient operation of the Group Homes. The Operations Manager is accountable for 5 main areas, among other tasks:
- Team Management – overseeing the Group Home Coordinators including day-to-day guidance, mentorship and problem solving as challenges arise. Support Coordinators in ensuring the efficient recruitment, hiring, orientation, supervision, evaluation, training, discipline and termination of Team Members.
- Labour Relations – interpreting, advising, and ensuring compliance with applicable collective agreements, as well as participating in the grievance and collective bargaining process as required.
- Health & Safety – chair of one of the OHS Committees, and ensuring OHS standards are being met. Timely reporting and follow-up on Serious Incident Reports and Investigations.
- Accreditation – ensuring that CARF Accreditation standards are being met within the Group Homes.
- Programming and Operations – ensuring all aspects of resident programming is meeting residents’ health, safety and well-being needs. This can include, but is not limited to; creating Resident Support Plans, Support Protocols, identify and apply for additional funding and benefits where applicable, collaborate with Community Living Service Delivery (CLSD) and Saskatchewan Assured Income for Disability (SAID).
The Applicants:
Applicants would typically qualify for this position with a recognized Disability Support Worker program, related university degree (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, etc.) or equivalent training in a related field and a valid drivers license. Applicants must have strong supervisory, interpersonal, communication skills and the ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
Experience:
- Minimum two years management experience
- Managing a Group Home with individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, or managing living facility providing 24/7 support
- Managing front-line supervisors
- Working in a unionized environment
- Experience and training in conducting behavioural assessments and strategies are considered an asset
- Experience working in the public sector within the government (case management, crisis management) is considered an asset
