The Position:

In support of the Vision, Mission and Values of LutherCare Communities, and with funding from Canada Summer Jobs, we are seeking a Building Maintenance Worker to join our team at Luther Place Outlook. 

Start Date: To be determined in May/June, and will continue into the summer months.

Location: This position is located in Outlook, Saskatchewan.

This position is only available to youth who:

  • are between the age of 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
  • are legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations;

*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

The Applicant: This position will provide day-to-day support to Luther Place Outlook that includes:

Facility & Grounds Support

  • Assist with daily cleaning and upkeep of common areas (hallways, entryways, shared rooms).
  • Perform light janitorial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, and emptying garbage.
  • Support routine maintenance checks (lights, small repairs, supply levels) and report issues to the supervisor.
  • Help maintain outdoor areas by watering plants, basic landscaping, and keeping walkways tidy.

Safety & Compliance

  • Monitor facility spaces to ensure safety, cleanliness, and accessibility for residents and visitors.
  • Follow workplace health and safety standards, including proper use of cleaning products and equipment.
  • Assist with setting up safety signage and ensuring emergency exits remain clear.

Resident & Team Member Support

  • Provide friendly customer-service support to residents or visitors by answering simple questions or directing them appropriately.
  • Help team members with room setup for programs, meetings, or community activities.
  • Assist in distributing supplies or materials needed for programs or events.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Maintain logs of daily cleaning tasks or maintenance observations.
  • Help with simple data entry, filing, or inventory tracking for cleaning and maintenance supplies.
  • Support scheduling and coordination of small facility tasks as assigned.

Project or Program Assistance

  • Assist with summer projects such as organizing storage rooms, updating bulletin boards, or refreshing community spaces.
  • Participate in community-building or tenant-support initiatives as needed.

Teamwork & Professional Development

  • Work collaboratively with maintenance team members and admin teams.
  • Attend required training on workplace safety, maintenance procedures, and organizational policies.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and willingness to learn new skills.

Sufficient practical experience to perform the duties is required and experience working with seniors is an asset. Applicants must be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently, have knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of hand/power tools and grounds keeping equipment as well as basic knowledge of carpentry. Applicants must be physically able to perform job duties.
