The Position:

In support of the Vision, Mission and Values of LutherCare Communities, and with funding from Canada Summer Jobs, we are seeking a Summer Housekeeper to join our team at Luther Riverside Terrace. This position is responsible for the weekly cleaning of residents suites and the buildings common areas which includes: making beds, changing linens, vacuuming of carpets, cleaning linoleum floors, cleaning the bathroom and light dusting.   

Start Date: To be determined in May/June, and will continue into the summer months.

This position is only available to youth who:

  • are between the age of 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
  • are legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations;

*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

The Applicant: This position will provide day-to-day support to Luther Riverside Terrace that include:

Daily Cleaning & Sanitization

  • Clean and sanitize common areas, office spaces, washrooms, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust rooms and hallways.
  • Clean mirrors, windows, and glass surfaces.
  • Replenish hygiene and cleaning supplies as needed.

Room & Facility Upkeep

  • Make beds or tidy rest areas where applicable.
  • Empty garbage and recycling bins and ensure proper waste disposal.
  • Ensure floors, corridors, elevators, and entryways remain clean, safe and free of hazards.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all workplace safety and sanitization guidelines.
  • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to instructions.
  • Report any maintenance issues, repairs, or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.

Organization & Inventory

  • Maintain stock of cleaning supplies and notify supervisor when restocking is needed.
  • Keep cleaning equipment in proper working order and stored safely.
  • Record tasks completed daily, using checklists or logs.

Customer Service & Support

  • Greet residents, visitors, and team members politely while performing duties.
  • Respond to simple requests for assistance or direct questions to appropriate team member(s).
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Coordinate tasks with other housekeeping team members to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Assist with setting up rooms for programs or activities as needed.
  • Participate in team member training sessions and follow organizational policies.

Special Cleaning Projects

  • Assist with deep-cleaning tasks such as carpet cleaning, furniture wiping, or seasonal cleaning.
  • Support large facility cleanup projects or event setup/tear-down.

Other duties as assigned by the Housing Manager Sufficient practical experience to perform the duties is required and experience working with seniors is an asset. Applicants must be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently. Applicants must be physically able to perform job duties.
