The Position:
In support of the Vision, Mission and Values of LutherCare Communities, we are seeking a Permanent Part Time, Prep Cook who can work from 9 am to 1 pm (Monday to Friday) guaranteed 20 hours per week. This position is responsible for all preparation, cooking and baking duties required to prepare food for service. Cleanliness also needs to be maintained as well as proper storage of all ordered and leftover product. The Prep Cook acts as relief in the absence of the Assistant Cook or Hostess.
The Applicants:
Applicants would typically qualify for this position with a grade 10 (Grade 12 preferred) and a Food Safe Certificate. Applicants are required to have WHMIS training within three months of employment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
- Ability to work independently or as a team.
- Ability to take direction from supervisor, cooks or host (if applicable)
- Ability to remain calm during high stress times and adapt to change.
- Ability to organize time effectively.
- Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation
- Physically able to perform the work assigned.
Experience:
- Experience in food preparation
- Experience cooking in a commercial kitchen (preferred)
- Experience working with seniors an asset.
